| How To Use Instagram To Promote Your Blog |

I have a love/hate relationship with Instagram and I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way. Instagram is one of the essential platforms to use to promote your blog, (if you're not already on Instagram, get yourself an account now!). However, with recent changes to the algorithm, Instagram is becoming increasingly more difficult to grow an account on. That doesn't mean it's not possible to grow your account, you just need to be careful and strategic.
In order to get the most out of your Instagram account to insure you're getting your content not only out there on the internet, but also seen by many people, you need to make sure you're using it right. I've got a few tips for you to help grow your Instagram account that I'm sharing in this post! Hopefully I can help you grow your account so your content can get the attention it deserves!

| Top 10 Under $10 | Eyeshadow

I've been using a lot more high end makeup lately but my love for drugstore makeup will probably never die. There's really nothing better than amazing, affordable products! That being said, not everything at the drugstore is great. The drugstore can be a gamble and there are a lot of not so great products that you could just be wasting your money on.

I put together a list of my top 10 eyeshadows under $10, that way you can skip over the products that don't work and go straight to the good stuff!

In an effort to come up with some blog post ideas for myself, I decided to go hard and create a list of 100 blog post ideas and share it with ya'll! So not only do I have a list to look back at whenever I'm stumped on what to write, you do too!

| July Favorites |

July is over and we're now in the final month of the summer, August. I feel like everyone I know has been rushing the summer, but not me. I kind of wish summer could last all year. Now that it's August, I have to start making the most of this month before the summer ends!

Anyway, now that July is over and it's a new month, it's time to take a look back at some of the products I've been using and loving this month. Here's my July Favorites!

| Lorac Mega Pro 3 Palette Review + Swatches |

Quick little story time! If you know me, you'd know that when the Lorac Mega Pro 3 palette was first released as a limited edition palette I wanted it so badly, but unfortunately, it sold out before I could get my hands on it. I was really disappointed BUT, fast forward to a few weeks ago, I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw the Lorac Instagram page post a photo of this palette announcing that they would be re-releasing it. I marked the day in my phone and bought it about 2 hours after it was restocked. When it arrived, I was ecstatic. I never wanted an eyeshadow palette more before in my entire life.

I'm not one to splurge on makeup products like this. This was actually the first high-end eyeshadow palette I've ever purchased for myself. I had a feeling the Lorac Mega Pro 3 eyeshadow palette would live up to the hype but I obviously still had to test it out for myself.

| Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick Review + Swatches |

Always on the hunt for affordable products that work well, I ran into the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks at CVS one day and I decided to give them a try. I was immediately drawn to the packaging, which shows the pretty shades of the lipstick, and I was dying to have those colors all over my lips.

| Why I Love Wearing Makeup |

Makeup has been around for thousands of years, yet there's still so much controversy surrounding it. There are people who think wearing makeup is vain and there are people who think wearing makeup should come with a list of restrictions. I feel like everyone has an opinion on whether they like makeup or not these days and they have no problem voicing it, even if it isn't always nice.

For me personally, makeup is a staple in my life. One of the things I love the most and here's why.

| 3 Super Easy & Heatless Summer Hairstyles |

The summer is such a fun season, the weather is nice and there's always something fun to do. Here's the thing though, the summertime sucks when it comes to hair. The humidity makes it frizzy and having it down makes you sweaty. Oh, and you can forget about trying to use heat on it.

| Summer Beauty Tips | Makeup, Skincare & Body Tips!

As the seasons change and the weather gets increasingly warmer I find that wearing makeup becomes a little harder. I feel sticky and my makeup starts to wear off too quickly. I also start to notice changes in my skin when the weather changes. My face gets more oily and the rest of my body gets drier.
If you're like me and you have a few struggles keeping up with your beauty routine in the summer, I've got some beauty tips for you!

| Did I Accomplish My Spring Goals? | Spring Goals Update

The first day of Summer is in less than a week! YAY! I still can't believe how fast the year has gone by, it feels like Spring just started!

If you read my Spring Goals post, you'll know that I set myself 8 goals to complete by the end of Spring. Setting goals for myself is important to me because it helps me keep track of the things I want to accomplish. I worked really hard towards my goals these past couple of months, but keep reading to find out if I accomplished any!

1. Exercise More

I'm happy to say that I'm doing really well with this goal! I've been working out regularly, 5 days a week, and I finally have a routine down. I really want to get a gym membership because these at home workouts aren't gonna cut it soon and I want to take my little "fitness journey" to the next level. I have and still do take breaks with my workouts, and I'm learning to not beat myself up over it. As long as I get right back on track, I'm fine!

2. Eat Better

This is one of the harder goals I set for myself and I have yet to accomplish this one, healthy eating is just such a challenge for me! I still eat too much junk, but I have been slowly swapping out really bad junk food for slightly better foods. I try to snack on Greek yogurt and applesauce instead of cookies and donuts. I've also been eating a high-protein snack everyday around 3 PM to prevent myself from going crazy with snacks when I start to get tired and hungry and dinner isn't for another few hours. I also try not to get take-out as much and cook at home as often as possible, that way I know exactly what's going into my body.

This goal is definitely still a work in progress for me but I'm going to keep challenging myself to eat healthier.

3. Organize Clothes

I guess I could say I've somewhat accomplished this goal. I recently went through all of my clothes and donated a few pieces. Everything also currently has a place and I'm paying attention to clothing I don't wear often, that way I know what I should get rid of next. This is something that I still have to work a little on, but I'm proud of what I've done so far.

4. Spring Cleaning

My apartment isn't a mess, but I still have loads of organizing to do! I need to go through everything and throw out some stuff, but finding time to do this is tough. I try to do a little bit every weekend, that way I can slowly, but surely, get my apartment into the shape I want it to be in.

1. Revamp Blog

No, I haven't done this yet. However, I've been looking for ideas for templates on Etsy and planning out how I want my blog to look. I also made a few changes to my social media accounts and I'm loving them!
This is something that I'll have to set aside some time over the weekend to do. I'm also waiting to have a little extra money to purchase a pretty blog template and header.

2. Read More Blogs

I have been reading a lot more blogs recently, but I'm the worst at leaving comments! I hate that I always forget to do it because as a blogger, I know just how amazing it feels when readers take the time to leave a comment. I definitely want to continue reading other blogs but of course, I have to remember to leave comments!

3. Social Media

I had specific follower goals for the Spring on all of my social media accounts and I hit all of them this season! I've also been focusing more on interacting and supporting other bloggers on social media, as well as interacting with the people who read my blog. I'm going to continue to do this and of course try to reach some more goals I have set!

4. Giveaway

I wanted to be able to do another giveaway this Spring and I had the chance to do one when my Twitter hit 1,000 followers! I love giveaways, they're fun and I love giving back to the people who support me. Right now, I'm planning out an Instagram exclusive giveaway so keep an eye out!

I honestly think I did pretty well with my Spring Goals. I accomplished so much so far and although I still have a few things to work on, I'm really proud of myself! I'm going to continue to work on some of these goals and of course, set a few more for myself.

| Anti Haul | Products I Won't Be Buying!

As a girl trying to save some money, all of these gorgeous new makeup products being released is such a tease! I can look and admire them all I want, but I have to hold back on buying anything right now. It's a serious struggle at the moment, but I'm getting by.

In an effort to prevent myself from buying anything at the moment, I decided to do my own little Anti Haul. I've been seeing Anti Haul blog posts and YouTube videos all over and I love them! For those who don't know, an Anti Haul is exactly what it sounds like, just a list of products that people don't want to buy. I really enjoy these because you get a chance to see what products people aren't interested in buying and I feel as though it helps lessen the hype surrounding some.

Take a look at my Anti Haul to see what beauty products I'm not interested in buying!

1. Anything Kylie Cosmetics

I don't think I've ever once really wanted anything from Kylie's line of makeup. It has nothing to do with her, I actually admire how ambitious she is, it has more to do with the company itself. I've heard way too many people complain about the products being inconsistent in quality and I've also heard shipping is a nightmare. Her products are also way too expensive for what you're getting. For a sub-par liquid lipstick you're paying almost $20 and I'd much rather spend $20 on a lipstick that's of higher quality, like Anastasia or Stila.

2. Illuminating Drops (Any Brand)

This is a beauty product I don't think I'll ever understand. They're drops you either use as a highlight or mix into your foundation to make your skin glow more, and as someone who only wears matte foundations to hide their oily skin, I just can't get behind this trend. I also feel like it's way too much work. If I was going for a more glowy look, I would prefer to use a dewy foundation or even add a little extra powder highlight.

3. Tarte Clay Stick Foundation

I've heard Tarte makes some of the best foundations out right now and I would really like to try some from them, but this is not one of them. I just hate the idea of a stick foundation.
I'm dealing with some breakouts at the moment, so I've been really focused on making sure my skin is clean and stick foundations just scream breakouts to me! Even though you're not rubbing the stick all over your face, you are applying it directly to your face and I just can't get down with that right now.

4. Colorful Highlighters (Any Brand)

I love the idea of makeup being an artistic outlet and I love all of the really creative, colorful, and artsy makeup looks I see all over social media. I also love playing around with different colors but as of right now, those super colorful and rainbow highlighters are not on my wish list. I just can't see myself spending money on a product I would barely wear. I love the trend, but I don't think it really goes with my day-to-day style at the moment.

These are a few of the makeup products I don't plan on buying! I really enjoyed putting together this Anti Haul. I just feel like it's so easy to get swept up in all of the hype surrounding new product releases but when you actually take the time to think about whether you truly want or need it, you can save yourself a ton of money. It's important to realize that just because a product is popular doesn't mean you have to rush out and buy it if it isn't something that you really want.

What did you think of my Anti Haul? Are you planning on purchasing these products? What are some popular products you don't plan on buying? Leave me a comment letting me know!

| May Favorites |

May is over and it's June! It's so crazy how fast the year is going by! Since it's now June, the summer is right around the corner and I'm really excited for days at the beach and BBQs and everything else summer has to offer, I love the summer!

June brings the summer, but it also brings around another Monthly Favorites post! In this post I'm going to share with you some of the products I've been loving this May. I've found a lot of new products that are now some of my all time favorites and even a few oldies that I forgot how much I loved!

Here are my May Favorites!

Favorite Skin Product: Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water

I'm so late to this trend, but I've finally gotten around to using a micellar water for removing makeup. I've been using this one by Garnier a lot this month and I love it. It removes makeup easily and it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin!

Favorite Face Product: Coola Daydream Mineral Primer

I received this primer in my May Birchbox and I'm totally in love with it! I'm picky when it comes to primers but this one works great. It doesn't make my skin feel greasy and it helps my makeup last all day!

Favorite Makeup Product: Rimmel London Brow This Way Brow Gel

I bought this brow gel a while ago and I actually forgot I had it. I've been using it these past few weeks and my brows have been looking so much better! It holds all of my brow hairs in place nicely and it honestly just completes my whole makeup look!

Favorite Hair Product: Beauty Protector Protect + Detangle Spray

This is another product I received in my May Birchbox that I've been obsessed with this month. I just spray a little in my hair after I get out of the shower and not only does it detangle my hair, it also adds plenty of shine and volume!

Favorite Body Product: White Rain Boutique Collection Daily Foot & Heel Cream

I actually got this foot cream from the dollar store and it works incredibly well! I've been putting this cream on my feet every night after I get out of the shower, putting socks on overnight, and in the morning I'm left with perfectly moisturized feet, no dry skin at all! This is especially great right now because it's sandal season.

Songs I've had on repeat this month:

Bad Liar - Selena Gomez

& everything off of Harry Style's new album!

That's everything I've been loving this month! What are some of your May Favorites? Let me know in the comments!

| What I Learned From 1 Year Of Blogging |

This blog is officially one year old. I'm actually still in shock about it. First off, I want to thank every single person who has visited my blog over the past year! The sheer fact that there are people out there that want to read what I write about leaves me with no words. In short; it's crazy, amazing, and inspiring.
Blogging was something I started kind of on a whim and to be quite honest I wasn't really sure what I was doing. I just knew I really enjoyed watching videos and reading about beauty and fashion, and I wanted to do something along those lines. I had no idea I'd keep up with it for this long and I couldn't ever imagine there would be people who would actually want to read it.
Honestly, this full year of blogging has taught me a lot, not only about my blog and the world of social media, (which I didn't even use before starting my blog), but also about myself. Blogging certainly has it's ups and downs, but I really love doing it. It gets tough and there are days when I just want to delete the whole thing and all of my social media accounts along with it, but I love what I do too much. I've always loved writing and it's given me an opportunity to be creative and express myself.

Since I've learned so much from blogging for a year, I decided I would share with you guys some of the things my blog has taught me. It can almost count as a little "beginners guide to blogging". Enjoy!

What I learned from one year of blogging

1. If you love something enough, you can actually stick to doing it

I have a hard time finding hobbies that interest me. I'm an all-or-nothing kind of girl, so either I love something or I don't. I also have a tendency to lose interest in things that I'm not immediately good at. When I wrote my first post, which took me about 6 straight hours to write, I knew I found something I loved, I just wasn't sure how long I'd be interested in doing it for. I've taken a few breaks with my blog, and I've made a lot of changes but I'm still here. I'm still posting regularly and I'm still active on social media. I finally found something I love doing and I'm beyond proud of myself for sticking to it, even when it got tough.

2. Quality > quantity, always

When I first started this blog, I wanted to post 5 days a week. Looking back now, I was absolutely out of my mind. I thought that the more posts I banged out, regardless of the quality, the more page views I would get. I was totally wrong. I have now brought my posts down to 2 a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, and my page views have soared. My posts are written better and my photos are of much better quality. I cringe when I look back at some of my first posts but I won't ever delete them. They're kind of part of my ever-growing journey in the blogging world.

3. Social media will be your new best friend

Like I said earlier in this post, when I first started my blog I had no social media accounts and I hadn't used any since I deleted my Facebook account back in 2012. Now, I spend a lot of time on social media promoting my content, engaging with readers, and supporting and talking to other bloggers. Social media has an equal amount of pros and cons, but it's one of the most important parts of running a blog.
I think one of the things people seem to forget is being active across multiple platforms. I started with my Twitter account, then I created my Instagram and my Facebook page. I also use Snapchat now, which gives people a chance to see a more personal side of me.

4. Supportive community & making new friends

I was terrified of other bloggers when I first started my blog. I thought they'd all think I wasn't good enough or they would view me as some sort of competition. I couldn't have been more wrong. With the exception of a few bloggers I've come across, almost everyone has been nothing but supportive and helpful. I love being able to engage with other people who do the same thing I do, who understand the same struggles and triumphs. I love having an opportunity to support and help people. I just love the blogging community!

5. Your content won't be for everyone & that's okay

I used to get really discouraged when I'd follow bloggers I liked on social media and I wouldn't get a follow back. I felt as though my content wasn't good enough, but I now understand that what I write about and what I do won't necessarily be something that everyone will love and I'm okay with that. I don't like every single thing other bloggers write about, so I can't expect others to like everything I do. All that matters is that I have a place I can express myself and do what I love.

6. Carry a notebook & pen with you at all times

Inspiration will definitely strike in some of the strangest places. I can't even count the amount of times I've thought of a really good idea and I didn't have anything to write it down with. I now carry my notebook with me everywhere I go and if I don't, I make sure to write a note in my phone whenever ideas cross my mind throughout the day. I also keep a notebook next to my bed, because I get tons of ideas before I fall asleep!

7. Weekends won't be a thing anymore

This is a bit of an exaggeration, but the amount of free time I no longer have is pretty wild. Since I work full time, I spend a lot of my time on the weekends writing, taking photos, and editing. I stay up late during the week doing the same. I've had to say no to a lot of things so I would have time to work on my blog. It sucks sometimes, but with a blog, you get what you put into it. However, I won't limit myself to having absolutely no life. I still go out and do things, I just pick and choose what to spend my free time on.

8. It's okay to take a break

With all that being said, it's okay to take a break from blogging. I've actually taken a few over the past year. Sometimes life gets hectic and sometimes you just need some more time for yourself, and that's okay. What I love about blogging, is that I never feel forced to do it. If I have no motivation or inspiration, or if i'm dealing with some personal issues, I can take a break whenever I want.

9. Be yourself

This is by far the most important thing I've learned from blogging. I used to try so hard to be like the bloggers that had a large following; I tried to write like them, look like them, talk like them, take the same types of photos as them. That got me absolutely no where. Now, what you see is what you get. I am the real me across all of my social media accounts and on my blog. I have no problem being real and honest, I have no problem talking about mental health issues, I have no problem talking about things that bother me, and I have no problem talking about weird things that excite and interest me. I'm not going to pretend to be someone I'm not, and if you don't like the real me that's totally fine. I can't be everybody's favorite person.

10. It's all worth it

Social media drama, posts that don't do so well, pictures that don't turn out the way they were supposed to, late-nights spent editing, skipping out on going out, every single struggle and sacrifice has been worth it. I've found amazing people to talk to and so much support and help. I've finally found something that I love doing and as silly as it sounds, I've finally found something I would love to be able to do for the rest of my life, a place where I can be as creative as I want to be and just be myself.

This was a bit of a long read, but if you made it this far I just want to say thank you. Thank you for reading my blog. Thank you for supporting me in something that I love doing. I'm so happy I decided to start my blog and I can't wait to see what the next year of this "adventure" brings.

| My Athleisure Wishlist | Clothing Wishlist |

I basically live in yoga pants and leggings all year 'round. I just love how comfortable and versatile they are, you can dress them up for a casual day out or dress them down for a relaxing day at home. Plus, I've found it easier to squeeze a workout into my busy schedule when I'm already dressed in clothes I can work out in!

Since I have this obsession with wearing athleisure clothing, I'm always on the hunt for the cutest styles and the most flattering fits, just because I want to feel comfortable doesn't mean I can't look chic too!

I was inspired by Adore Me to help find inspiration for some athleisure wear that is not only comfortable, but super trendy as well! For those of you who don't know, Adore Me is a NYC based lingerie company that offers a monthly subscription service that's curated to your preferences and needs. You just sign up and answer a few questions about your sizes and what you like and they send you a variety of products to review and you get to pick which ones work for you!

Once you answer the questions you also have the opportunity to shop Adore Me's website for other amazing products including swimwear, lounge wear, and active wear. Shopping is made easier because you're only shown the products in your sizes. Adore Me also offers a wide variety of plus size clothing too!

After checking out Adore Me's website, I've found some really cute active wear styles that I added to my wishlist! I seriously can't wait to start rocking these outfits!

Here's my Athleisure Wishlist!

I can already see myself wearing this set, which comes with a sports bra and these really trendy capri pants, on a summer hike. I love the details at the bottom of the pants and I love the floral pattern as well. I'd probably pair this set with a white T-shirt or slouchy tank.

Just look at how cool these pants are, I love the design! This set, which includes these cropped pants and active racerback tank, is the perfect thing to wear for a workout. I can totally see myself going for a run or running errands while wearing this set!

Not only is the pattern on this sports bra and cropped pants set so gorgeous, it also features some pretty hot mesh panels on both the bra and down the pant legs. I'm honestly quite obsessed with this set, it might be my favorite of the three!

Those are the items currently on my athleisure wishlist! Adore Me has so many other cute styles and sets to choose from, it was extremely hard to narrow it down to just a few! What are some of your athleisure must-haves? Let me know in the comments!

| Products I'm Getting Rid Of! | Decluttering My Makeup |

One of my goals for this spring is to clean and organize my entire apartment. I have so much stuff that I really don't need and I'm currently working on going through everything I have and getting rid of things I don't use. The other day I decided to go through some of my makeup and oh boy did I stumble on a few products I should have tossed a long time ago!
In this post I'm going to share with you some of the makeup products I'm getting rid of!

Maybelline The Flasies Push Up Drama Mascara

Ugh, I really don't even know where to begin with this mascara. I bought it because I always heard good things about it. First off, I didn't like it off the bat. The wand hurts when I try to apply the mascara and it doesn't even do much for my lashes. I wasn't impressed with this mascara at all!

NYC High Definition Liquid Eyeliner

I think I may have gotten this eyeliner confused with another one from NYC that everyone raves about, but either way I'm not a fan of this product at all. It just doesn't do much, the product barely comes out and that makes it nearly impossible to do a wing or even some basic lining.

Maybelline The Colossal Spider Effect Mascara

Okay, so the only reason I bought this was because I had a coupon that dropped the price of it down to $2, but I didn't really have many expectations for it. Even the ads for it showed these crazy, messy looking lashes! Unless you're going for that look, which I never am, it just isn't a great product.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

If you've been following my blog for a little while, you'll know that I used to LOVE this foundation. The coverage is amazing and it's so affordable! Unfortunately, it started to make my skin break out bad, so I'm sadly getting rid of it.

CoverGirl Clean Oil Control Foundation

This was my OG foundation since freshman year of high school, and I can't really figure out why. The coverage isn't great, it barely lasts 6 hours, and it oxidizes like crazy! I'm also now more of a matte foundation girl, so I'm tossing this!

Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana

Funny story with this stuff. In high school, I had no idea what the difference between a bronzer and a pressed powder were, so I bought this and used to apply it all over my face. So not only is this product way too old to be using still, it's definitely too light to be used as a bronzer on my skin! The product is really good though!

e.l.f Eyebrow Kit in Light

I cringe when I think back at the makeup mistakes I've made. This eyebrow kit is super cute and the quality is pretty good, but it's totally not the right shade for me. My eyebrow hairs are more cool-toned, so I use a taupe shade when doing them, this product comes off a little orange when I use it, that's why I'm getting rid of it.

Those are the products I recently decluttered from my makeup collection. I still haven't gone through everything I have yet, so I'm sure I'll have more products to get rid of! I enjoy doing posts like these every once in a while because they give me an opportunity to talk about products I didn't like or products that just didn't work for me. What are your thoughts on decluttering posts? Let me know in the comments!
